The lubrication is a key operation in hot rolling process, it influences service life of the rolling mill and the quality of rolled piece.

Reduce friction coefficient

In the hot rolling process, the friction coefficient of roll and rolled piece is generally about 0.35 under no lubrication, and it can be reduced to 0.12 if using lubrication.

Reduce rolling force

The decrease of the coefficient of friction as a direct result of rolling force is reduced 10% ~ 25% than ever, thus rolling power is less can decrease power, this can not only save energy, and more importantly, can be on the basis of the original mill rolling, with great beneficial to rolling thin specifications of products, at the same time, it can effectively eliminate the vibration of rolling mill.

Improve operation rate

Under the condition of hot rolling, black skin is formed on the surface of the work roll due to oxidation in long-term contact with cooling water, which is the main cause of abnormal wear of the roll. The lubricant can prevent the formation of black skin on the roll surface, thus prolonging the service life of the roll, reducing the number of roll changes and improving the rolling operation rate.

Improve the surface quality of rolled piece

The reduction of roll wear and oxide scale can directly improve the surface quality. In addition, the control effect of lubrication on the friction in the deformation zone can also improve the shape of the sheet after rolling. The pickling speed of hot rolled strip with great surface can be speeded, thus the consumption of acid is less and loss of metal in pickling is less.
