The highest work record of tundish at Yaxin Steel’s steelmaking plant was set on October 8, reaching 168 hours and 26 minutes, with a total of 269 furnaces and 45,545.5 tons. This is now the world’s highest record for tundish operation. The person in charge of Yaxin Steelmaking Plant shared their experiences.
1)When designing the tundish, the shape and size of thetundish are optimized by combining the flow characteristics of steel to avoid dead zones and eddy currents, so as to make the flow of steel inside it smooth and the temperature distribution uniform, thus reducing the scouring of refractory materials.
2) To select refractory material with high refractoriness, good thermal shock resistance and erosion resistance. In the masonry process of thetundish, the operation is carried out in strict accordance with the construction specifications to ensure the masonry quality of the refractory materials.
3) To control the smelting cycle of converter, appropriately reduce thetapping temperature of converter, ensure the time of argon blowing and the production mode of low-temperature quick-drawing, and strictly control the average temperature of tundish.
4) The casting process shall keep opertional stability, ladle turret uses frequency control,able to accurate positioning. To use high-performance diversion sand and shall be drying treatment before use.
5) The ladle bottom outer layer, especially the ladle nozzle mechanism and hydraulic cylinder parts of the insulation protection, under the premise of reducing the distance between the bottom of the ladle and the tundish mouth, so as to reduce the ladle casting flow scouring the bottom of the tundish.
6)Monitor and measure the thickness of thetundish slag layer, timely slagging to reduce the tundish slag on the lining material erosion. Normal pouring to keep the tundish steel level 900 ㎜ stable, in order to reduce the impact of steel on the bottom of the ladle lining when casting with low liquid level.
7) Upgrading continuous casting machine vibration system, pull-straightener system and electronic control system ensure the reliability of the casting machine;
8) Periodly inspect the key points of the temperature and erosion state of tundish.
