Deoxidizers For Steelmaking

In steelmaking process, common deoxidizers include ferro silicon, silion metal, ferromanganese,  Silicon-barium multi-alloy and sillica slag.

  1. Ferro Silicon: Ferro Silicon is a common deoxidizer for steel making. The chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen is very high, and it can effectively convert oxygen into silicon dioxide, and adding a certain amount of silicon in steel can effectively improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of steel.
  2. Silicon Metal: Silicon metal is commonly used in steelmaking to deoxidize material, which can effectively detach the oxygen from the steel and reduce the reaction capacity during smelting while deoxidizing, making deoxidization safer.
  3. Ferromanganese: Ferromanganese is mainly composed of manganese element and iron element, and it is often used as casting deoxidizer, desulfurizer and alloy additive, which can effectively deoxidize and improve the hardness and durability of steel.
  4. Silicon-barium multi-alloy: Silicon-barium is a new type of multi-alloy, its content can be customized by specific situation, and its internal silicon element can also be customized to make more deoxidation.
  5. Silica slag: Silica slag is the bottom slag produced by smelting ferrosilicon, silicon metal, which contains a certain amount of silicon elements. The silica slag can be used for steel deoxidizer, but also can be purified again to produce high silicon content of ferroalloy products, the silica slag alloy has the effect of raising the furnace temperature during steelmaking; Adding silica slag alloy in casting can also improve the gradual toughness and cutting ability.
